Zumba with Mhairi

Mhari will be back on the 8th November.

Pamper Lady

Claire broke her ankle and has been missing these last few weeks, but she will be back on the 16th November.

Social Clubs

We have enjoyed Music Clubs, games afternoons and crafting. The autumn collage is finished!

Weekends

On some Saturdays we have had The Cheer Trolley going around the house visiting everyone in the lounges or in their rooms with a wee drink and chocolates/sweets. This gives us the opportunity to touch base with everyone who lives here and have a nice chat and laugh. Other Saturdays we have played games in the lounges which is also very popular, so it depends on the mood of the people who live here and what they fancy doing.

On Sundays we have our Church visits from St. Columba on the first Sunday of the month and Woodpark Church on the third Sunday of the month. In between we have our Hymn a longs with musical instruments and a Music Club afterwards.

Lounge Activities

Plenty of lounge activities this month with music, The Tin Can Alley Game, balloon play, cards, dancing, quizzes, Prize Bingo, reminiscence and lively chat & laughs.

We bought a white board for doing word games and this was great fun in the Garden Lounge when tried out playing anagrams. We will be using this a lot for different games.

Changes to the planner

Our planners are made at the end of each month for the next. Any activities are subject to change for many reasons, but we make a concerted effort to follow the planner also allowing for the residents to choose therefore keeping our activities organic and relevant. If there is a particular activity/event you are interested in please speak to Cate or Maggie to confirm. 

Every day there is some kind of activity available for our residents. Whether it be a nice friendly chat to keep them company, bus trips or one of the organised events. There are lounge activities at least three times a week.

We also have a collection of talking books available and a small library up the stairs outside the hair salon.

The Glenfairn Visitors Community Café

We have found that those who have and do attend enjoy a relaxed and open discussion forum and manage to share experiences and feelings on their journey alongside their loved ones. We believe this gathering can be cathartic and beneficial in helping them cope with and understand the condition a bit better and therefore it helps them support their loved one feeling supported themselves. It is also a lovely way to meet other people who visit Glenfairn and make it a friendlier and more familiar place.

The Café is every 2 months with coffee/tea and home baking. We try to make it fun and interesting and often pretext with a quiz or props. There is also plenty of information made available to read and Liz Wilson will be happy to answer any questions.

Our next Glenfairn Visitors Community Cafe is on around Burns Day but date TBC.

We would also like to remind you that The Glenfairn Café is open during the day and evening around protected meal times. Please see notices for times. It is situated in the upstairs main dining room at the big bay window with tea and coffee always fresh and available.
